I have been to many dentists - three this year, in fact. Five Pines Dental has been by far the best dental experience I have ever had in all my years. The receptionists are helpful and kind. Sara greeted me with a personable smile and hello. She made me feel safe and comfortable by offering me a blanket, chapstick, and option to turn on the massage chair. Dr. Collins’ bedside manner, expertise, and care is outstanding. The vibes at Five Pines are immaculate, starting with the staff- every person I had the pleasure to meet was helpful and I felt they had my best interest at heart. I ended up having two long appointments for extensive dental work. Sara and Dr. Collin’s kept checking in with me and asking if I needed a anything. I experienced no pain. Dr. Collin’s and Sara made sure I felt comfortable and safe. By the end of my dental work- my smile was dramatically improved!!! I am feeling excited & confident to show off my smile and their pristine & expert work!!! Thank you Dr. Collins & Sara for being beacons of radiance in this world 🙂

It’s very hard for me to go to the dentist because of anxiety and being shamed for less than optimal dental hygiene. Other dentists have done things like explaining what a tongue scraper is without asking about my habits at all (i have one! i just forgot that day) or been outright mean and acted annoyed when i said i was in pain. My hygienist and dentist both listened to the reasons i struggle with certain aspects of dental hygiene due to disability and gave me suggestions specific to my situation and medical conditions. They explained how certain medical/ genetic conditions can affect dental health regardless of hygiene and what i could do to combat that kind of damage. Not obvious things like “floss more.” My hygienist explained what she was doing and was as gentle as possible while still doing a thorough cleaning. I felt listened to and respected and while i still hate going to the dentist, they made the experience as easy as it could be. Thank you!

Went here today as a 1st time patient without insurance. I paid $180 for exam, cleaning and X-rays . Both the dental hygienist and the dentist were excellent at their jobs and the receptionist was super friendly too. There is two parking lots nearby that were validated by the dentist office. Lovely visit I haven’t been to the dentist in a few years and was really nervous and kinda embarrassed at the state of my teeth. The hygienist was so nice and easy to talk to and doctor collins and Zeller both were extremely professional and reassuring with the diagnosis (root canal and potential loss of a tooth) told me options and made me feel really good. Dr Collins also explained how everything worked and made me understand exactly what would happen during the procedure. We also talked about anxiety medications options during the procedure and they covered just about everything. If you are scared to go to the dentist go here!

My first appointment with Dr. Zeller was terrific. I needed an emergency crown replacement, and he was able to take me the same day I called. The temporary replacement procedure went without any pain at all! (I didn't even feel the shot to numb my gums.) The office is conveniently located and everyone I interacted with was really personable, which goes a long way when dealing with someone who is very tense when seeing a dentist! I've got another appointment to get the permanent crown and have already scheduled a cleaning. I'm looking forward to having Dr. Zeller and his staff as my dental team! Update 2024: Still terrific!

I have an extreme fear of the dentist. I avoid them at all costs. I came to Five Pines Dental and was pleasantly surprised by the experience I had. Right off the bat I was greeted with a kind smile and once I met the dental assistant Oliva I felt a huge sense of relief. She took the time to actually sit down, talk me through everything, and most importantly she treated me like a person. That continued with the dentist who was very kind and helped me come up with a treatment plan that I could actually obtain. He never made me feel bad that I needed some dental work done. With this alone I felt comfortable with this clinic. Leaving I met with the staff who helped me with my insurance, she was extremely helpful and kind. Breaking all the costs down. And the best part was their prices actually made it so I could afford to get the treatment I need. I will forever be greatful for the kindness I received here.

I moved across town and I still make the trip to come here because I refuse to go anywhere else!! I love their blameless and kind approach - I used to hate going to the dentist because they made me feel really bad about the state of my teeth. the folks at Five Pines are so kind and empathetic; they just want to help you feel the best you can. I have been going to them for the last 2.5 years and I've always had a great experience each time I visit. They're very upfront about costs, and always explain in detail to me what they are going to do during my visit and answers all my questions very clearly. I go to them every 6 months to get my teeth cleaned because I look forward to going to the dentist now! They have heated chairs that also has a massage function, and they are so gentle when they work on my teeth that it's honestly become a self-care hour for me now every time i go. I always recommend everyone I know to go to this dentist office because it is just such a wonderful experience! highly highly recommend, and they even validate parking 😀

I've been going here for 6ish years and I think I've referred 6 or seven people at this point. None of us have had any issues with this office and my treatment team is fabulous! Laurena is the best hygienist I've seen probably ever, she's quick, efficient, super thorough, and has a great sense of humor. You can tell the staff enjoy working there, from the front desk to the dentists. The office is clean and sleek while still being welcoming. Plus there's message chairs and an option to listen to music during your cleaning if you don't feel like talking. If the perfect dentist experience exists I'm pretty sure this is darn close.

Dr. Z and his staff are great. Stephanie did my cleaning and was awesome-very gentle-and everyone makes sure you feel really comfortable. They're excellent about reviewing your insurance policies and going over your treatment options. And they have heated massage chairs as their exam chairs-it doesn't really get better than that! Another bonus was being able to fill out everything (even insurance info) electronically before my appointment. It was so convenient to be able to do that-and it all worked from my phone!

Edit: 6 months has passed and I am back again at Five Pines Dental! I am still very pleased with everything here. From the staff to cleanliness of the place, everything is perfect and spotless! Despite the ongoing pandemic, they still make me feel very comfortable with coming to the dentist. They sent out an electronic health check questionnaire before you arrive. It was very convenient and made the whole visit seamless and mostly contactless 🙂 I am not disappointed with the service and still would recommend everyone to come here for their dental procedures! This is my first time at Five Pines Dental, and I absolutely will come back here! I was a little bit concern of coming to see the dentist because of the pandemic, so I called the front desk to get more information. The lady who I first talked to (I think her name is Leslie) was very nice and helpful. She assured me that they clean and sanitize all the areas every hour. All the dentists wear “3 layers of face protection” : N95, medical masks, and face shield. They also put on glove and apron on all the time during the procedure. Plus, they have HEPA air purifier in every room too. This definitely a plus and make me feel safer. The dentist I met with was Lauren. She is very professional and friendly! She answered all my questions and concerns. Every tool she used was clean directly after each use as well. As for Dr. Zeller, he is fantastic and super nice! I highly recommend this place and definitely comeback here for my next check up! P.S. They also gave you a care package before you leave. I found this very touching.

The staff is very nice, they always use my preferred name, and it has a very comforting atmosphere. The dental chairs can be heated, they have blankets available, sunglasses to cut down on the light glare, and special tools if you have sensitive teeth. I have a sensory processing disorder and I’ve had the least painful and stressful dental experiences I’ve ever had here at Five Pines. I actually go regularly for the first time in my life because of this. They also validate parking in the building.

We just moved to Portland and I found Five Pines through a friends recommendation. Everyone there was so friendly and welcoming. The receptionist was smiley and didn’t make me feel like a dunce for struggling to find the location. Anthony, my dental hygienist was hilarious, gentle, and full of interesting and entertaining oral facts. Dr. Zeller was personable, positive, and encouraging with a sense of humor that made being at the dentist actually enjoyable- those things are not usually synonymous. The aesthetic of the office was modern and welcoming, a nice upgrade from the traditional dentists offices I’ve been to in the Midwest. Also, their early morning appointment accommodated my 9-5 and I liked the the new patient special. Next, their covid precautions made me feel comfortable. Lastly, their was well audible good music playing the whole time, not your old school dentists elevator tunes but rock. Surprisingly pleased with the experience considering it was the dentist, and I’m no more of a fan than the next person.

I have to preface this and say I do actually enjoy the dentist, so when I was recommended to Five Pines Dental (and specifically Lauren as my hygienist) by a close friend, I checked out their work and reviews and I was very excited to have this office be my new home for healthy toofers. For a cleaning after not having been for a few years, Lauren was a delight! She was very thorough and precise, and explained every process so well. I felt very relaxed. I don’t know if it’s because it had been a few years since my last dentist visit, but Five Pines had very new tools and gadgets that made me feel that my teeth were really being analyzed and taken care of! Ok, so I've had a few different dentists in my life after moving around a bit. I won't lie and say I've seen bad dentists, but I've been to some real mediocre places, and I've been to some nicer places. Five Pines Dental is superb. Their office is spectacularly clean, and very relaxing due to all the natural wood (can you believe Dr. Zeller did all of the woodwork??). The staff couldn't have been nicer, even playing along with my little "preferred name" joke (Lord Bumbleberry-- stupid, but they thought it was funny). Their implementation of COVID-19 precautions was amongst the best I've seen, so you can be confident that you will be safe there as long as you stick to the guidelines and give other patients their space (easy to do with their social distance floor markers). Zeller was kind and compassionate, just like everyone else on the staff. Overall, it was an excellent experience!

Leslie is very helpful on the payment/financing end. I have never once felt the desire to recommend a dentist, but these folks are the best. 11/10 I recommend.

I've been going here since they opened. The whole staff is great! Everyone is friendly and clearly communicates. Their whole setup is pretty high tech, from the iPads for medical forms, to the X-ray machines built into the walls between the rooms. The chairs are also quite comfortable. The office is easy to get to if you don't have to worry about parking. And I've never waited more than a few minutes in their lobby before getting started (it may help that I always schedule my appointments in the morning). It's right on multiple max and bus lines. All in all, every experience I've had here has been great (all 6 or so visits). I highly recommend this dental office!

The best part is, you can tell he cares the moment you first meet him. He takes the time to get to know his patients and his work is so much better than so many others. He also takes time to make sure you are numb enough instead of testing the waters prematurely. My filling was sculpted and feels like my tooth would with the ripples and grooves. My crown is beautiful and is seated perfectly. You'd be a fool to go anywhere else.

I couldn’t be happier to have found this office, they are ultimate professionals. When I mentioned I had an after work event that overlapped my appointment, they were accommodating and flexible in rescheduling part of my appointment for a later time.
